NSBHS Media Center Mission Statement

Our mission is to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of ideas and information by providing resources that help all students achieve information literacy and contribute to lifelong learning. We will provide a collection of diverse learning resources that represent a wide range of subjects and levels of difficulty, allow intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats and in all areas of the curriculum and provide instruction that fosters competence in using media centers and stimulates interest in reading, viewing, and using information.
Media Center Rules and Policies
Students are encouraged to visit the media center before school, after school and during lunch each day. Many of the 7 Essentials will be will be observed in the media center, just as in any classroom throughout the day.
- If you are visiting on a pass, cell phones should be away.
- Dress code policy will be observed!
People come to the media center for many reasons. Please respect the learning environment of others during your visit.
There is no food allowed in the media center, however, drinks with lids are allowed.
We have a beautiful media center. Please be responsible and take pride in your school. Go Cudas!

You must have your student ID to access the media center.
Students may check out 3 books at a time.
The check out period for books is 3 weeks.
Overdue fines are $.05 per school day per book that is past due. If book is not returned, the student will be fined the cost of the book.

Passes
You must have your student ID to visit the media center.
Passes are required during class time and must be for a reason.
Students are required to sign in at the front desk when they arrive and display school ID. Passes must be visible during your visit.

Students must have a Volusia County Schools Electronic Information Services Acceptable Use Policy Form on file to access the internet on campus. Please visit the front desk if you need a form.
There is a designated row of computers that may be used if a class is using the lab. If the class requires these computers, you will have to return at a later time.
Black and white copying and printing is available at a cost of $.05 per page.
